Wallace
Fields (Piano) began his piano career at the age
of 14 as an accompanist. By 18 he had joined the London
University jazz band, written music for a film and made
guest appearances at the Cy Laurie Jazz Club, Soho, London.
He has founded the RAM Theatre Company, which toured Israel
with his musical Kinneret, and also founded the Jewish Music
Group and the Redbridge Festival of Jewish Music and Drama
in 1983.
Paul
Eshelby (Trumpet/Flugal) has been a featured soloist
with the BBC Big Band for seventeen years and regularly works
as a session musician for film and television, including the
soundtrack for Basic Instinct. Paul has played for a variety
of big band leaders and composers including Billy May, Johnny
Dankworth, Geoff Love and Henry Mancini as well as artists
such as Rod Stewart, Shirley Bassey, Ella Fitzgerald and Harry
Connick Jnr. Paul was appointed Musical Director of the Wally
Fields Jazz Orchestra in January 2002.
Ron
Findon (Clarinet/Sax) could be called a 'versatile'
musician. Ron has played with Joe Loss at Buckingham Palace
for the Queen on countless occasions, travelled the world
with his own band on P&O cruise ships, spent two happy
years as clarinettist with Harry Gold and his Pieces of Eight.
In addition, he is a LRAM and recently recorded Mozart's Clarinet
Concerto. Ron is also an accomplished performer on flute and
bassoon.
Murray
Salmon (Bass) first was taught clarinet and piano
at school, but after leaving and performing with amateur bands,
taught himself double bass. Having backed some of the top
acts of the seventies (Matt Monroe, Tom Jones, Buddy Greco
et al.) Murray began playing on the SS Canberra, performing
all over the world.
Richard
Pite (Drums) he managed and performed with the highly
successful Rio Trio, an ensemble performing jazz and popular
songs from the 20's and 30's. In 1996 he left the trio to
start Omnibus - seven different line-ups featuring the best
in 20th century popular music from Ragtime to the present
day. After graduating from York University in 1978 with a
BA in music he taught for a short while before going to the
USA and working as a drummer in California. On his return
to London he worked with numerous bands and toured regularly
in Europe and America.
